Speech Therapy

Speech therapy may be provided under the Medicare Hospice Benefit when services are reasonable, necessary, and related to the patient’s terminal illness or related conditions. It is not a routine service for every hospice patient and is considered according to individual clinical circumstances and the hospice plan of care.

Speech therapy may address communication, speech, or swallowing-related needs when clinically appropriate. When included in the patient’s plan of care, services are coordinated with the hospice team and other professionals involved in the patient’s care.

Bonum Hospice Services considers speech therapy based on the patient’s condition and identified needs. The appropriateness of therapy is determined in relation to the terminal illness or related conditions and the patient’s prescribed hospice care.
